Biography
My name is Andrea and I was born in Trieste.
I started photographing in 1974, when a family friend, professional photographer, gave me a fully automatic compact camera.
At that time I was Photographing at everything with the sole purpose of stopping the moment. The idea of blocking the moment and immortalize things have always fascinated me.
I had no photographic education nor knowledge about technics, but the passion and curiosity about how to learn new techniques and the desire to improve my results inspired me to continue this hobby.
From the compact camera I switched to SLR camera, using machines on loan (a Canon A1 and Canon E1) and then finally succeeding in getting across a mine, the Pentax Z-1.
With the Reflex my passion is further increased, especially for landscape photography and nature, even if I am are very attracted by portraits and by people with their emotions.
In 2001 I supported the traditional photo film camera with my first digital camera, a Kodak. I finally move to digital photography only in 2003 with a Canon EOS 300D. But of course this was just the beginning!
My passion for experiencing new areas of photography, made me start to take pictures using infrared filters. I physically modified my Canon 300D in order to succeed in the goal (the removal of the antialiasing filter of the sensor).
I collected some of these photos taken with different infrared filters in my gallery of photos.
Of course, photography is also art, sometimes some photos are being postprocessed with tools and techniques for image manipulation in order to obtain excellent results not only in photography side but also in the artistic side.
My equipment
In the past I used different brands of cameras, Canon, Nikon, Pentax and Kodak.
The photo equipment is important although if not crucial for a good photo. The combination of quality, passion and art certainly creates the best results.
Currently use only Canon bodies with Canon objectives but also Sigma and Tamron lenses depending on conditions.
My photo equipment is always the same since a little while I try, when I can, to replace or expand optics.
I always try to have the best of what I can afford, but unfortunately the cost of equipment is always very high and often I must desist from certain desires.
Why Arte-Photo
Some time ago, I started to feel the need to compare with other lovers of photography in order to improve my technique and my style trying to grow and to learn more and when possible, to give my contribution with my experience. Determinant was also the desire to leave something to share with relatives, friends or simply unknown The photo immortalizes a moment, one moment special. Time passes, things change but the picture remains. So how is the memory. The photos on the site, even if only a small part of my personal perspective of the world and how I see through my photography.
For these reasons, in March of 2004 Arte-Photo was born.
