Biography My name is Andrea. I was born in Trieste (Italy) in 1968. I started taking pictures in 1974, when a family's friend, professionist photographer, gave me a fully automatic compact film camera. At that time I was taking shoots of everything with the sole purpose of catching the moment. The idea of locking the moment and 'freeze' the still forever, has always fascinated me. I had no style nor preparation at that time, but the passion, the curiosity to learn new techniques and the desire of improve myself has prompted the evolutionary process to the max, giving me back many satisfactions. From the compact camera I passed very soon to reflex camera, using 'on loan' machines (a Canon A1 and a E1 of my father and grandfather) and then finally managing to buy a whole mine, the Pentax Z-1. Since then, my passion has been booming, especially for nature and landscapes photography, even if I'm very attracted by portraits and by the people in general and their emotions. I joined some photographers on their work, to learn and have some experience, but I have never joined to a single club or association to avoid 'fossilizzation' in a single field or in certain techniques only, I like to think of being part of all clubs or associations of all the world and I try to learn new techniques even more sophisticated. In 2001 I joined to the traditional photo film, my first digital cameras, a Kodak camera, and finally I move definitively to digital in 2003 with a Canon EOS 300D and later with a Canon EOS 20D. But of course this is only the beginning! Given my unusual nature, I like to make experiment with new fields of photography. I started taking pictures using infrared filters and to be able to do this, I modified physically my Canon 300D. You can see these pictures in the section 'Infrared'. I have collected in the 'articles' section some explanations on the process of Infrared photography and how I modified the camera. Of course, photography is art, sometimes some photos are processed with tools and techniques of image manipulation in order to achieve a good result not only in photographic terms but also in artistic terms. Under 'articles' section there are some techniques that use or in the process of image manipulation. My equipment In the past I used different brands of cameras, Canon, Nikon, Pentax and others. Although it is true that it's not the camera to take a snap of a masterpiece, but that the masterpiece born from a mix of heart and art, haveing a good equipment in your hands can be of great help. For this reason, the equipment of a photographer is always in constant mutation, also related to the professional and artistic level that is reached. Even my equipment is changing, I always have the maximum of what I can afford, when I can replace the equipment. Currently I shot mainly with Canon digital cameras, lenses mainly Canon, even though I have other brands like Tamron and Sigma. Why Arte-Photo From the beginning, I felt the need to communicate with other photographers and photography enthusiasts in order to grow and improve my technique and knowledge in photography. No less important, comparison with others in order to make my work known. In 2004, I began to feel the need of a new media that could make me know well beyond the natural boundaries of my town, even abroad, a tool which could compare my works with other photographers works and that becomes a vehicle information for all those who, like me, are interested in photography. The idea of create a Web site, since I work in the IT field was a bit tricky. In a short time I published a site that could represent at least partly my world of photography. The site is available in many languages, the choice is made automatically by the server depending on the language of your browser, because I wanted to make it as simple as possible and that it could reach more photographers and amateur as possible, even foreigners. The name 'Arte-Photo' was born because I think that photography is art. Just as painting or sculpture. Pubblications My photos have been published in magazines and books in italy and abroad, where I am recently having discrete satisfaction. On this site are published only a small part of my photos, but for obvious reasons I can not publish all of them.
